hey Carlton I sent this email over to Tribeca Film Fest and I believe it’s concise and is a good example of how to start reaching out to festival staff :)

“Hello Tribeca Staff,

I would love to help make your upcoming festival run as smoothly as possible in any way that I can. Whatever you need (setting up stations, giving out badges, keeping the bathrooms clean, greeting, etc) I’d be happy to help.

I’ve got a lot of energy, I’m thoughtful, total people person who likes working in teams, flexible and open minded and open to learning.

Just sent this message to Emerge Film Festival, happening next week here in Maine:

“Hello,

I’d like to volunteer and help with the festival next week. I am available Friday 4/10 and Sunday 4/12 (not available Thursday or Saturday). I would be glad to be of assistance in whatever way you can use me. I have lots of event experience, good shoes, a great attitude, and a love for films!
I have my own car and am available all day Friday and Sunday.

I love how Jake tells his schedule, is very upbeat, and mentions his car. Both emails really rock!!!   So, Carlton, do you have what you need?

Omg yes! I’m going to incorporate both emails into mine thanks Janet :) !!! And thanks Jake andy Alex that helped a TON! You guys sent out some informal straight to the point emails. I’m stealing both :)

These are so great! I called the contact for the film festival here and just introduced myself and said i was intereseted in helping out any way i could and if there were any meetings i could attend. There was, i went , and i gor to hand out 7 of my business cards. So also asking to come in person helps too if its possible. :) i love the email examples, thank you for posting guys.:)

Thanks for putting in your experience too Stephanie. A phone call is great. Why not? I always say phone call is how you build relationships. Doesn’t take long, but a real connection, and different kinds of conversations can come up through a phone call.   Get it factor!
